Realised I didn't care about either character or the lies they had told each other

I struggled a little with the two main characters in this book. They both are somewhat unlike able and so different, it seems fairly impossible that their romance would ever get past their 1st meeting.

The book improves as it goes along but I actually would have preferred a book about the main characters friends Nell and Topher. Their characters seem to have more depth and strength of character.

Still, I liked where things ended but it took a bit too long to get there.

I technically got this book as an ARC but didn’t get it read before publication. Either way, thanks to Net Galley! I feel like this book was just ok, a 3.5. I was just never sure how to feel about the main character, Ava. And I wasn’t sure if I should like her or not. She needed a little more description from the beginning

Ava falls madly in love at a writer's retreat in Italy. The only problem is that they know nothing about each other! The rules of the retreat forbid them from using their real names or sharing any personal information. Will the love that they share be strong enough to survive the reality of their differences? I found their struggles frustrating but in a "When Harry Met Sally" kind of way. If you enjoyed that movie, this book is perfect for you!

Thank you to Random House Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this novel. My review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.

I like Sophie Kinsella novels because her characters are just crazy enough for plenty of hijinks. This cast of characters, however, felt just a little too chaotic, and I couldn't help but leave the book thinking, "but WHY are they made for each other?" I did find myself telling people about how ridiculous everybody in the book was, so it made for great conversations.

It's a good book to read if your in the mood for laughter and a lot of frustration with the characters...but aren't we all in the mood for that sometimes?

This was my first ever Sophie Kinsella book and I was so looking forward to it only to be disappointed

The beginning was super fast paced and felt so so rushed it was unbearable - and then when the characters got back off holiday they turned into children rather than adults

I actually couldn’t stand the two main characters including the dog! I mean who could make someone hate a beagle???

The only saving grace was the last few chapters - I loved how the story ended and it was lovely, I just wish that the whole book was like it
