A decent ending for a series that really didn't need to exist. Retconning your entire world though? Bold choice.
I don't know how I feel about the ending, and that's probably in large part because I didn't want it to.
A satisfying (if very “Ram the Blade Ship”) conclusion to this series, which I didn’t think would be possible.

God can only tell you how much I loved this book. The ending, did Michael Grant really just end my favorite series with that. Honestly I am not that mad.
I am....speechless? i’ve got a lot to say about this trilogy tbh and i’m just trying to process a lot
wow. i mean, wow. i really enjoyed this series, from gone to hero. michael grant has really made something extraordinary.
THE ENDING. great. couldn't have been better. i loved everything about it. i'm usually one for bittersweet endings, as you've most likely already seen. the not-closure-but-closure was enough that
i wasn't feeling empty and unfinished but i wasn't completely finished with the stories. sam and astrid's appearances just before the ending acted great for that, we were finished with gone and craving more hero. and of course, we finally figured out who the dark watchers were, and the whole
as for before the ending... it was very good. not the best, but a good story. i was bored at times, especially (whatever sense this makes) in the action scenes. i'm not saying they were too descriptive, because that may have not been the case. but it could have very well been. the slight cruz-armo and shade-malik was great, and it kept me going throughout the story.
i think i wanted to see a little bit more of the character's personal before-rock lives, though. we never got much of francis, armo, cruz, simone, and malik and what they were like before. most we got the background stories-francis, alcoholic mother, cruz, straight MTF, simone, lesbian and power hungry father, and malik, smart dude who used to date shade- but that was it. where did they go to school? were they bullied? are they 16 in college because they're just that smart? i don't know.
grant did an amazing job making the story realistic, in terms of feelings. the characters were haunted at night when they killed a man. they had ptsd after near-death experiences. even the strongest, toughest characters cried, broken by the gore. i felt as if i was inside of their heads, even in the third person point of view.
a few paragraphs i wrote were kind of negative, but i really did love this story. it's always easier to find the negative in things, even when you love them. *insert good analogy here* :) -ella

It was nice to get to know the characters of the book in Hero instead of action, action and more action. Whenever Dekka mentioned anything about Brianna or the FAYZ, a wave of nostalgia and a bit of sadness hit me. The ending of the book was definitely something to ponder upon, and leaves so many options for fan fic writers to emerge.
