The pacing could use some work, and there are important details that seem a big skimmed over emotionally when it comes to the characters. I also think it was a poor choice to give every kingdom a Z name lol.
That being said, the characterisation is really good and the magic system is a breath of fresh air. You can tell the author got some inspiration from the Flesh & Fire series, but they managed to weave the borrowed ideas into something new and refreshing.
I also like that the author strayed away from some of the repetitive tropes-fated mates, faeries, etc. Those things are present, but play a much smaller role than other romantasy plots.
I regret that I started this before I knew it was an incredibly new and unfinished series. I hate waiting!

This may very well be my favorite Romantasy read of 2024. The setting, plot, and characters were all *chefs kiss*.
Vesselless is chock full of intricate world building, complex magic systems, and political intrigue. Nizzara (FMC) is fierce, loyal, and kind to a fault. Dagen (MMC) is a half ghost with dreamy eyes and a smirk that smolders. The banter is off the charts and the slow burn burns so good.

I think this idea is super cool but the execution falls a little short sadly. Sometimes just too much going on for me personally. Pacing seemed off.
Still curious to read the next one as the characters are interesting and idea unique

I don't even know what to say about this book. I've been excited for it ever since it randomly popped up on my Tik Tok for you page and boy oh boy did it NOT disappoint.
The magic system is so different and interesting. The story had me in a chokehold. I loved both the FMC and the MMC and all the minor characters in between. The fights were well written and there was plenty of them. Everything about it was gripping and so well done.
I guess if I have to say anything negative it's that's maybe the end felt a bit too rushed but that could be my personal issue of having a hard time keeping up with a lot of twists thrown at you at once.
There were a few things I wished were elaborated on more but I'm hoping we learn more about those things in the second book. And the end wrecked me. Like...I did not expect to weep tonight but here we are.
I cannot wait for the second book to see where this goes. Also Dagen? Ghost dream boat. I'm obsessed with him.

It was a solid 3 star read. The vibe was cool and the MMC was likeable. I think if I hadn’t read so many other romantasy books or was unfamiliar with some of the common tropes I maybe would have enjoyed it more—it didn’t really break any new ground for me but it wasn’t bad either. The prose was good, the world was cohesive, and the characters felt like they were consistent with their motivations.
