The unhoneymooners was laugh out loud funny. Whilst I've genuinely funny reads with some of Emily Henry's books, they were mostly chuckle inducing whereas The Unhoneymooners managed to give me some genuine laughs. Unfortunately, this is the only strictly positive point I can give it. The romance is for the most part predictable and lacks a degree of emotional depth. Following the classic trope of enemies to lovers, it tries to make the male love interest seemingly fatphobic, however in the end it turns out to simply have been a misunderstanding of first impressions. Ironically, by trying to be body positive, the author ends up coming off as more annoying and insecure than anything else by repeatedly talking about the protagonist's "curvy" body making her sound more and more like an overweight person in denial. In any case, with the misunderstanding cleared at the 60% mark there really is nothing left to stand in the way of our two lovers and their unhoneymoon ends with them as a seemingly perfect couple. The remaining 40% are spent solving the relationship problems of the lovers' sibblings, and whilst this carries some additional depth, the issue remains that this part is neither about the unhoneymoon nor is it about the unhoneymooners and feels like padding to get the book to a normal length. Overall, despite its many flaws, I had a genuine good time reading this book, it's far from being a great romance but it's as most romcoms are, a perfect comfort read.

I loved this book. It is the perfect romantic comedy! I’m a big fan of enemies to lovers trope and Christina Lauren did not disappoint. I thought the main characters had a lot of chemistry, from beginning to end. The little details had me thinking about luck, fate, and the universe. It was a super quick read. I would recommend this book to all romance lovers!

it's not a bad book, perse. it's... readable. the overall concept is really good and i love a good enemies to lovers, but the execution was mediocre at best. the whole enemies to lovers trope wasn't written that well and when the plot twist came i was not surprised (and it felt like a waste of time.) there were a lot of stereotypes in the book that i didn't like at all. it was borderline lesbophobic w comments that were made abt ximena and the only confirmed gay character just felt like he was included for diversity points? how the authors portrayed him... i'm not going to get into how they portrayed olive's body since one of the authors is plus sized so they can probably speak on that. what they can't speak on is the hispanic culture (the main character is hispanic.) both authors are white and whilst i have no issue w culture being included, what bothers me is how they included it. we got a surname, a few spanish words, some stereotypes and that was it. it added nothing to the plot. don't get me started on ethan/olive's relationship and the portrayal of dane/ami. it's sanist too btw.

Adorable. I'm so glad I decided to pick up the audiobook for this one! This was my first Christina Lauren book and I loved everything about it. The pacing was perfect, especially considering how much the enemies/rivals section had to build to make the end of the plot believable.

It also had some jaw dropping moments! I wasn't expecting a couple of the twists, and even though they were wild and a little painful, it felt like it helped wrap the story up nicely and succinctly. Olive was a great main character, stubborn and "down on her luck" are two traits I don't see done well with main characters but it meshed perfectly with Ethan's unwavering sarcasm and wit.

Also, I just loved the family aspect to this book. All of the background with Olive's family and their involvement was great. Truly one of my favorite romcoms I've read this year!

I'm only docking a star because I did get extremely frustrated with the miscommunication and third act break up. It makes sense in the narrative and it does what the plot needed it to, but I just wish it had gone in a different direction.

I really liked this. Very witty, lots of banter, not much spice. Personally though
I would not have forgiven Ethan
