I needed a little light fun after my last dense read and this was definitely that. I finished it in a day. The banter of the main characters (enemies-to-lovers šŸ˜) was hilarious and snappy and I loved every second of it, which was most of the book. The ending  was absolutely adorable and had me kicking my feet. Fun light read tbh.

I will say two things: this book is a very tame, fade-to-black sort of romance. I didn't think less of it for that - I just wouldn't go in expecting something different. AND #2, the main conflict of the story ends up going down with a ton of pretending-bad-things-aren't-happening-for-the-sake-of-peace-lowkey-gaslighting from multiple sources, including the male mc. He isn't the one who actually does The Bad Thing and he grovels for his part in it so I got over it, but it's something to note.

Read the book since my teen was reading it, and wanted to read something she does.
And was surprised how fun it was.

Literally my favorite love story. I loved the story line and the witty banter! This book told a perfect enemies to lovers story without any cliches and the miscommunications were cleared up almost immediately!

A super cute, fun romance. I enjoyed seeing Ethan and Olive come together even if their reason for ā€œhatingā€ one another was simplistic and more of a misunderstanding.

This wasnā€™t my favorite romance, but it was definitely a fun ride.

Dane is a terrible misogynistic villain, and I despise him.

I love an enemies to lovers, especially when thereā€™s a grumpy sunshine element too. These characters are adorable and so is their love story. This book is hilarious. I laughed so loud and long that my husband looked at me like I was nuts. And maybe I am, but still, the book is funny. I loved Love & Other Words and now I love this book, so Iā€™m going to have to check out the rest of the books by this incredibly talented author pair.

the ride throughout was funny and tense in all the right ways, except for the later parts of the book which almost spoiled the rest of the witty dialogue and fun interactions the honeymoon part built up so well.
It started precisely when they went home and it became obvious Dane was cheating on Ami as he tried insinuating to Olive she can still go to Dane if she got sick of Ethan, but neither Ethan nor Ami wanted to believe Olive. There were moments during the honeymoon itself where Olive tried to bring up the "coincidences" yet Ethan shot her down at every turn, only for Olive to end up being doubted and blamed by both Ethan and Ami about Dane. While he received judgment, it wasn't truly very satisfying, and I didn't like the way Ethan tried to make up for it either; not the method I approve of.

This is the perfect fun, light summer read. The characters are well-developed, with their own unique quirks. It uses many tropes in fun ways. The sister relationship is very realistic with a lot of love but the typical sibling annoyance. The characters are diverse but treated normally, just letting them have their own stories with cultural elements worked in effectively.
On the other hand, Dane is the worst character in existence. He was so terrible, in fact, that I almost gave up on reading this otherwise very enjoyable book. Ethan is so kind, yet strong, that him defending Dane was also getting on my last nerve. There is a difference between sibling loyalty and choosing to remain ignorant to your sibling's shortcomings.
Additionally, a lot of this drama with Dane felt very rushed. It was mostly confined to the end of the novel (though hinted at prior), and therefore, felt too quickly resolved. I would have liked some time to sit with it and perhaps get a more complex view of what he was like so that I didn't just hate him.
Overall, a very good read that I could see taking to the beach at a later date.
