audiobook review
I think this book was good, but I didn't feel the connection I've felt with other Sally Hepworth books. I'm struggling to figure out why because I think the characters are interesting and the mental health aspect is important. She does such a great job highlighting relevant issues in her books. She creates opportunities for readers to feel compassion when it could be so easy to write the situations off as frustrating or the characters as unlikeable.
I rarely pick up books that have to do with corporate issues like corruption, greed, etc. so that might be one of the reasons I didn't connect to this book as much. I liked the unexpected reveal at the end, though, so it all ended up making sense.
As always, the audio for Hepworth's books is great. Barrie Kreinik is fantastic as always, and Jessica Douglas-Henry was a great addition to the narration team.
While Sally Hepworth seems to address most issues with grace, still check the TW.
Rating: I liked it! (3.5)

I surprised myself about how much I like this one, it was surprisingly sentimental.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this!
I am a big fan of Sally Hepworth and was ecstatic to be approved for this one! However It was not my favorite by her. It was a little slow and very predictable, but only because there were too many hints as to what was going to happened. It definitely ruined any twists. It was more suspenseful i would say than anything.

I loved The Good Sister by Sally Hepworth, but like her book The Mother-in-Law, this book was just ok. The first half was compelling enough, leaving enough mystery to make you want to keep reading. But then the storyline plateaued and I lost interest in the plot. I found the end anticlimactic and disappointing.
Also, it seems tactless in this day and age to sensationalize mental illness as a fearful aspect of an antagonist—which works to persist stigma instead of fight it.
Received ARC from NetGalley.

I was expecting more thrills and less family drama so I guess this one is a me problem. I think I could have enjoyed it more if Pippa and Amanda had been more compelling characters to follow but I couldn't really care about them or their marriages. The husband drama just didn't do it for me.
