This sophomore entry into the series to me was significantly better than the debut. The writing was sharper, cleaner, and we spent much less time meandering through a complex story and more time getting shit done with real stakes this time (no pun intended.) The climax was hair raising and terrifying, but also had the joy of adding more questions than it answered. I wish we had gotten more time with some of the side characters that I really loved although giving more spotlight to Bruiser and Ricky were 100% worth it. Biggest drawback? There is SOOOOOO much delicious sexual tension between Jane and Brusier and like, the Soft Gentle kind between her and Rick, so I was denied in two ways: no rough and tumble under the full moon with the baddest blood servant in town, but also no ANYTHING on paper between her and Rick, just a "...well...you know..." NO! SMOOCHES OR DEATH, JANE. I needed the fluff and felt jipped. Overall though, super solid urban fantasy novel, and by God am I glad it's more than 10 books long so I have a whole lotta reading to get done over spring break. I've already downloaded the next 4 books. Get ready, y'all.

pg-18, fun and adventurous, i like the fact that these books can stand on their own, i like learning about new orleans and i think her treatment of the character as an animal is pretty good ..

The second installment in the Cherokee skinwalker series. Not great, but not bad for entertaining mind candy. Hunter has begun to develop a pretty good supernatural world, and everything seems to hang together pretty well.

Love it when you start a book and you realize you know what is going to happen. Huh. Guess I have read you before.

It's a must read in order series.

Blood Cross is book two in the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter.

Jane completed one job for the Council, but now the Council has hired her for another job. She has to navigate the Vampire world, stop a war, and make sure that she doesn't die or step on anymore toes.

When we last left Jane she was still in New Orleans. Molly and the kids have come to visit. It was so nice to see Molly, the kids, and Jane with them. I absolutely enjoyed learning more about Jane and her Beast. Their was some great character growth and change for both of them. We also get some very important information about the vampires and their history. That information was mind-blowing. I loved watching Jane navigation the Vampire world, but still there's so much more for her and us to learn.

I really liked the slow mystery that developed throughout this series. I liked the hunt for the Rogue vampire, the suspense, and learning more about the Vampires and Jane.

Blood Cross was a fantastic urban fantasy to read.

This series continues to be fast-paced and enjoyable. I particularly appreciate that while the vamps are sexy and violent, Hunter doesn't make the violence itself sexy.

This second installment was better enough than the first book that I'm looking forward to reading the next one. Jane, as a character, feels a little more fleshed out, a little less cliched. While the Beast segments aren't my favorite parts, they feel a little more natural in this novel- perhaps I'm just more used to them? Or maybe the author is just a little more polished?
My favorite parts are when we discover more about vampire history or more about Jane's personal history. Finding out about those background elements gives a real flavor and depth to the story I feel.

Once again, really enjoyed this re-read by audiobook. I can't say enough good things about the narrator Kristine Hvam...I love all her voices.
