Sasha’s in a bit of a pickle. She’s not enjoying her job the way she used to. She has no agency and thus is becoming stressed out. Things come to a head one day and Sasha makes a mad dash out of the office, running to the nearest convent across the street. She’s ready to become a nun.
Thing is, the nuns have seen this before, call Sasha’s job to rat her out. Sasha’s supervisor and manager come to the church to retrieve her and Sasha runs from them too, smack dab into a brick wall.
In hospital, Sasha’s mother suggests she go away to the seaside resort they all used to go to as a family when Sasha and her sister were kids and their father was still alive. Her mother makes all the arrangements.
Sasha arrives with high hopes, until she realizes that it’s the off season in February. The resort is in slight disrepair in some areas with scaffolding blocking her seaside view. Oh well, she can go to her favorite rock to practice her yoga and watch the waves.
Then not more than a couple of days into her stay, Finn the curmudgeon arrives and he highjacks her rock. But he’s not as bad as he would have her believe, in fact is burned out from his job too.
Sasha and Finn realize they have a lot more in common than their burnout: both their families used to come to the seaside resort twenty years ago and both teens were present during a near tragedy that almost lost the favorite surf instructor his business. The part Sasha and Finn played in saving the business is but one integral part of the story. Sasha and Finn’s growing romance is another.
This was a hilarious read with a layered story and characters. There’s a third act break-up and miscommunication tropes, so those averse, might not enjoy. Otherwise, I loved this book and would highly recommend it.

A really fun and lighthearted listen. I loved the back stories, chemistry and character development of Sasha and Fin, as well as the comedic interludes of the minor characters. Kinsella's writing paints an idyllic backdrop of the coastal West Country paired with the humour arising from a small village and rundown hotel. An easygoing read with heart

Bloody loved this book! It was very cheesy and I found the wellness parts irritating but really enjoyed the relaxing read
