coming back to finish your childhood book series 20 years later CAN be emotionally fulfilling, but I guess not when it's infamous cliffhanger "war is hell" Animorphs! nah, I understand now it couldn't have ended any other way, way to go Ms Applegate.

The Solace: This book destroyed me right out of the gate. Two chapters in, I was balling my eyes out, heartbroken and in despair. The events unfolded were raw and realistic for kids coming off a true world war and dealing with life differently in the aftermath. The writing in this story gutted me—it felt so real and was so hard-hitting for the characters I spent so much time with. Although initially irritating, the ending also made the most sense for our Animorphs.
The Dread: The ending. Listen, after sitting and reflecting, it's a great ending, but wow, I did not like it when I first read it. I was in disbelief. Also, in the book's first half, the individual narrators almost seem irrelevant, losing their individual voices and becoming neutral narrators.
Overall, I'm sad the series is over, but this was an amazing story with real characters and adventures that breathed life into my days. I will miss Tobias, Ax, Rachel, Jake, Marco, and Cassie. And don't mind the blob in the corner—it's just me demorphing.

All I can say is I was mad when I read this when it came out. Now I can appreciate it for the anti-war masterpiece that it is.
