King Craft’s Book Club Pick. Not a book I would have picked up on my own, but was enthralled nonetheless. S.A. Crosby is able to weave historical facts and current day issues into a fictional town on the verge of a breakdown. I found myself staying awake later than usual to find out “who dun it.” While I was enthralled throughout the book there were several parts where I felt removed from the story. These mostly included moments with Darlene or Kelli.

Often you will read a book with a great plot/characters but the writing isn't great.   Other times you will read a book where the writing is great but the plot/characters aren't great.  This book has great writing and great plot/characters.  It is graphic and often times hard to read.  It makes you feel things you don't want to feel.  It makes you consider things you might not want to think about.  Overall, this is an outstanding read.  I will definitely be reading more books by this author.  I highly recommend this book but check trigger warnings.

I will be reading from this author again, that's for certain. Top-notch prose, and probably some of the best character work I've seen in a mystery so far, even though it did still fall flat for me at certain moments during the book. I felt like certain characters didn't serve enough of a purpose to justify their existence in the story. Regardless, I still really enjoyed the mystery and thought it was well-done while also going deeper and discussing the racism still alive in America today. Seeing how the evils of racist ideologies can tear apart a community as well as individuals was simultaneously enlightening/chilling to read. Another extensively talked about idea throughout this book is the farce of religion with a focus on Christianity. The different
priests
seen throughout the book contrasted to the "real" church was, I thought, really well done. The murder mystery was riveting because of its abject gruesomeness, and I kept flipping through the pages to see what kind of person could commit such crimes. The writing and character profile of
the murderer
was also a bit reminiscent of Alex Michaelides' writing. Definitely would recommend.

4.5 stars!

Gripping, visceral, and profound, S.A. Cosby's "All the Sinners Bleed" is an absolute must-read. It is full of thrilling twists, bloody action, and important conversations about race, good versus evil, police brutality/necessity, religion, and the general direction in which our country is headed. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, and just when you think you know what will happen, Cosby yanks you in a different direction. I was enthralled and entranced by this book. This story is dripping with suspense and mystery and intrigue, and I loved every single minute of it. S.A. Cosby is an immensely talented writer, and I cannot wait to read what he writes next. Some readers might find this book too violent and bloody, but I think it serves a purpose and is integral to the plot. Adam Lazarre-White's voiceover narration is some of the best I have ever heard. His voice aids in making this book effective and potently powerful. Just tremendous work here all around.

Thank you to NetGalley, S.A. Cosby, and Macmillan Audio for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

Absolutely enthralling! I had never read anything by him before and absolutely loved it. I listened to the audiobook and loved it. The plot moves at a good pace. And tbh I think it would be an excellent tv series, in the right hands.
