This is one of those books that makes you feel calm and relaxed when reading it. Even though not everything in it goes smoothly (it is largely about chronic illness), the slowness and stillness of everything that happens soothed me. Plus, the small snail illustrations throughout were lovely.

If someone would have told me that one of my FAVORITE books of 2023 would be a non-fiction book about land snails, I would have snort-laughed into my coffee. But here I am, researching places to find a pet snail of my own. I feel a new special interest coming on FOR SURE. PLEASE READ THIS OMG

Not sure if this was a book about living with chronic illness or snail biology, but either way I enjoyed this gentle, thoughtful read.
