Julie has been more background than a lot of supporting characters in these books. This is the first time I feel a strong sense of who she is and how much she takes after Kate. I love both her and Kate’s growth as it’s shown here, the loaner girl from the streets is coming into her own. (Kate isn’t really in it but still gets to show some of her newly developed sneaky mom type skills.)

So nice to see Julie in action. Would love to have a book with her navigating the challenges of her school & Derek and everything. But this is a nice taster anyway.
