There were parts of this book there were really great and parts that I felt were weaker so I compromised with 3 stars. I like the set up, the world building, and the culture. Some of it just felt a little shaky at times. I loved the characterization of the main H/h and Zanth. Oh Zanth! I think he might have been my favorite part of the whole thing!
Not the best book I've ever read, but still very intriguing and I'm definitely sticking around to check out the rest of the series to see if the plotting levels out a bit.

From what I remeber, I liked it, but it was a little to... dry maybe? However, I am going to continue with the series in future.

I found the world difficult to understand. I wasn't able to figure out if there were previous books that were relevant to this series, and when reading it felt like there was a lot of background that was important but hard to understand. That made the plot more complicated (trying to understand the different titles/families, T'Ash's history, etc). Overall I did enjoy the book, but I'm not sure I would re-read or recommend it for the above reasons.

This is such a unique concept. Quite fun -- love the shorthand Owens uses to create Celta as a new world. It seems believable to have been something Earthlings once found.

I have mixed feelings... welll no I don’t. I did not like this book. I hated the the guy basically bullied her into loving him. I finished this book for the cat alone.

I liked the idea of this book more than the actual book itself. Celts in space who have magical abilities, including the ability to create something to attract their "soulmate" aka Heartmate. However I could not find much to like about the characters themselves. Danith has too many hangups that she can't take a chance on something new and T'ash is too one-dimensional "he-manish". I really wanted to like this book, but after wading through it I can only say it was merely okay. I don't think I'll continue this series.
