Sarah Booth and Tinkie are forces of nature. This is first and foremost what I love about this series. Their friendship and the way they go through life is a joy to watch. The mystery is always good, but the anchor is the relationship between these two strong women.
Which is why I wasn't as fond of this book as the others in the series I've read. It's the same as I feel about the first part of the season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when Buffy goes to college and seems to lose her mojo. I don't like seeing my favorite strong chickies getting emotionally tossed about with self-doubt.
Sarah Booth takes her fiance, Graf, to a nice vacation so that he can rehab from his gunshot wound in peace and quiet. He is distant and starts disappearing for hours on end. There's another woman in the picture.
I was glad that there was a satisfying mystery to solve and treasure to find to keep me reading. I love this series and I didn't want to give up just because I wanted to smack Graf and Sarah Booth about to clear their craniums and get off the pity-wagon. I know characters have to grow and develop so that they don't become one-dimensional, but I really got fed up. I was glad that Tinkie was there to smack Sarah Booth upside the cranium, metaphorically and otherwise.
I can recommend this book and definitely this series and anything that Carolyn Haines would like to write.

So much heart and charm. Love Sarah Booth and the rest of the characters...and the mystery was great too!

I would like to stay that the ending was surprising but it really was not.
Overall this was a ok read it tip back toward a darker Sarah that we have seen. overall the mystery was ok. The plot between Graft and Sarah got interesting but also showed how bad communicators they can be when it's about important issues :sigh: overall it was an okay read and moves the plot all a little.

While I really like a lot of things about this series. This book just didn't do it for me. I saw 'who dunnit' and the issue with Graf coming. The lack of communication between the characters is maddening.

Hoping the next book is better.

Booty Bones by Carolyn Haines (a Sara Booth Delaney mystery ). (RB digital Library Audiobook loan). After her boyfriend Graf suffers a devastating leg injury during Sara’s last case, Sara whisks him, her dog and her cat off to Dolphin Island for some rest and a relaxing place for Graf to heal. Unfortunately, Sara captures the attention of a local girl who seeks to hire Sara to help prove that the man who was convicted for her fathers murder is actually innocent. As Sara reluctantly agrees to help she is sucked into a scandal involving a missing pirates treasure. Meanwhile her relationship with Graf experiences a storm greater than the actual one barreling toward the island. an interesting read, one of the better books in this series.

Okay. I've done my brain resting for the summer, and it was entertaining. Now it's time to move away from light-hearted mysteries for a while. Except now and then. Because I like light-hearted mysteries.

But a constant diet of them for a couple of months is quite possibly too much. :)

I love this series but this one was lacking. I was less than thrilled with how Haines handled addressing a hurricane, it really exemplified Sarah Booth's bad decisions. I also didn't particularly care for how Sarah Booth's and Graf's relationship interaction went. This particular book in the series left a lot to be desired but Sweetie made it worth the read.

Excellent, as always. Big changes happen in this book and it's definitely not a read-out-of-order series. Beautifully written - I can't wait to find out what happens next.
