I enjoyed the last book greatly, good pace.

Spoiler I would have liked it better if the Inca Queen was as ruthless as Lawrence thought her and not just making the best of it for Napoleons son, would have seemed a much better twist of events but alas it was not to be

good ending for Lawrence and Temeraire and Temeraires story is not yet done, at least in our imagination, we can see how life unfolds for the British dragons.

Everything came to a close well.

The series was somewhat dragged out but I liked it well enough.

If you've enjoyed the series you'll enjoy this last volume, though it felt a bit frenetic at times.

I would've rated it higher, if only to give credit to the series, but this final volume seemed too interested in just putting a bow on it, however hastily the package was wrapped. Many aspects including the showdown with Lien were omitted as if they wanted to leave room for some extra stories we'll have to pay for separately. I felt in Blood of Tyrants perhaps Novik was tiring of the story, and this one showed signs of strain. A lot of story wasted on a duel rather than talk about sweeping changes among dragonkind even in Britain (how did Perscitia get into Parliament anyway?). I would have liked to hear more of Lily and Maximus than just a brief mention. And I confess I tired of Laurence a while ago and would rather have spent more time with Temeraire, who is a wonderful character, or any of the dragons, rather than trudge through yet another exposition on his honor. Even then right at the end when another threat to kill off dragons emerged it was resolved offstage leaving me wondering why it was included at all. A somewhat frustrating ending to what has mostly been a very imaginative and well written series.

A good ending to the series, though it was long-winded and meandery. There were a few too many long confusing battle scenes (to me, all battle scenes are confusing).
