This may be a short work as far as Egyptology books go but it provides an excellent introduction to Ancient Egypt by detailing the main finds and their implications for both Egyptology and the archaeology. James writes in a clear and concise manner that also conveys his passion for the subject and pulls in the reader into the world of excavators, treasure hunters and finds that turn the history of Egypt upside down. While I didn't learn much that I didn't know already and some others have now been revised following further finds, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and would certainly suggest giving it a go if you ever come across it.
