I didn'  know what to spect. YA V. E.? OK, I'm interested and got it for my kid with the idea to read it first before they do. I wanted to make sure it wasn't too scary as they are not interested in scary stories. At their age I was deep into goosebumps and eerie Indiana, but not them.
I started to enjoy the book, I reall  like Cass and Jacob. And her parents were interesting and cookie. It was a fast fun read, were I have already started to read it to my kid at night. Listening to m  kid giggle and be curious as to how Jacob ends up were he is, has been delightful.

I'm looking forward to #2 and I'm so glad to introduce V. E. So to my kid already ☺️

I can't remember the last time I loved a book this much. The setting, the characters, the story. Everything was great about it, I don't really care if it's a middle grade, it was just so well written. It reminded me of why I love reading and reminded of why I want to be an author. I could sing this book praise after praise.
If I was to nitpick there were a few things that just didn't sit right, like Cassidy being kind of werided out by the british customs, but she's twelve and it's a culture shock so what can I expect. It was just a little annoying to read but apart from that it was great. I can't wait to read the sequel.
