throughout this book, we follow cassidy blake who has been able to see ghosts ever since she almost drowned. since that event, she has been able to talk to ghosts, go beyond the veil into the “ghost world”, and her best friend, jacob, is also a ghost. her life is pretty strange already, but things take an even stranger turn when her family heads to edinburgh to film a documentary about haunted places.
this was actually so much fun and perfect for spooky season!! this was a middle grade so it definitely wasn’t too spooky, but just spooky enough to have me creeped out and on the edge of my seat in some parts. i enjoyed cassidy as a main character and her friendship with jacob. i also liked watching her make more friends during her time in edinburgh and seeing her relationship with her parents. the plot was super intriguing as well! going along with cassidy as she figured out more about her abilities was very entertaining.
overall i would definitely recommend reading this sometime during this autumn season! i am excited to continue the series

Allora, allora. Copertina molto bella, autrice che mi piace molto. Storie di fantasmi! Pensavo fosse anore, invece... Non che la storia non sia interessante, ma è stata davvero troppo breve per i miei gusti, con pochi colpi di scena e personaggi non sviluppati molto. Credo sia dovuto alla sua brevità (dovrebbe essere sulle 250 pagine il cartaceo, il Kindle è 150) che rende questa storia più una short story per certi versi. Si legge velocemente, ha elementi carini, però ecco, manca qualcosa. Non so cosa. Forse, conoscendo l'autrice, mi sarei aspettata un world building e una caratterizzazione dei personaggi più curata, però questo non c'è stato. Ho letto che questo testo è classificato come middle grade e questo anche avrà influito. Per il target, doveva essere una storia breve e non troppo sviluppata ma comunque di senso compiuto. Gli eventi di questo libro vengono risolti, lasciando ben pochi interrogativi sui personaggi. Visto che gli altri due libri della serie dovrebbero essere brevi come qusfto, credo che li leggerò. Spero solo che siano più coinvolgenti
