interesting short stories depicting melancholy, alcoholism, a women's role in the 1920s,...; comically written; -"the custard heart": enjoyed the secondary/background plot; -"big blonde": in stark contrast to the previous story, the main character isn't supported through her sadness/melancholy, caused by having no reason for being, and finds relief in first alcoholism and the attempted suicide -"you were perfectly fine": comical description of a hangover/blackout;

I hadn't read any Dorothy Parker before and thought that this would be a good little taster to see if I like her writing. I enjoyed the three stories in this collection, they are a bit darker than I was expecting but enjoyable all the same.

Collection of short stories with fantastic, vivid characters. Offered a glimpse into being a woman, alcoholism and marriage. Very raw, dark and twisted.
