Audio and Ebook Review

OMG this MQ book was just freaking hilarious. I absolutely loved Wilder. From the minute he was introduced I was LOL.

I loved Scottie. She went through a divorce and I got the feeling that she didn't exactly know why it ended. Being with Wilder she was discovering herself and finding out who she is.

Wilder was amazing. He was this ordinary guy who nobody knew was rich. But he didn't let that affect him. I loved his whole attitude towards hoing Scottie out. He didn't need any explanation, he just jumped right in and went with it

This book was so cute. Following Scottie (Scarlett) as she accidentally-on-purpose lies to her boss and coworkers about being married in order to better fit in at the company. Cue Wilder, her gay best friend's brother who happens to be an improv master and retired with time on his hands (he sold his tech company and retired early). The two stage a marriage at an 8-day camp while dodging their sparkling chemistry.

First off, if the synopsis doesn't hook you, maybe this will: I love a book that makes me look up a new *ahem* piercing. Wilder is hot, younger than Scottie, and a little bit adrift in life after his early retirement at 27ish. Scottie is building her career, looking to make a name for herself and advance to a more desirable spot in the future. While I liked Scottie and Wilder together, I felt like she was a little demeaning just referring to her coworkers as "the Brads and Chad" rather than even trying to get to know any of them. I did appreciate Wilder continuing therapy, Scottie setting boundaries, etc. So overall, I really enjoyed this!

verrry middle of the road. the audiobook was enjoyable, which is a plus, but it's one of those books that is just there. it wasn't innovative at all, but it was entertaining enough

The humor in this book is 5 stars! I was cackling for the first 200 pages of the book, I've never read anything funnier. Meghan Quinn writes the best comedic moments.

However, where Meghan does really well in the comedy portion of writing, the romance aspects especially the last 100 pages fell flat for me. The main reason this book didn't get 5 stars is because of how perfectly everything wrapped up at the end.

For me, if trauma is going to be a big narrative arc for the main characters those experiences need to be hashed out realistically. If you like your romance books to finish with a neat little bow, then this will be a five star read for you.

Lastly, there are a lot of sex scenes in this book. Although the scenes are generally well written, if you like closed door romances this isn't for you.
