What a book. What a series. It's genuinely so difficult to describe these books to anybody who hasn't experienced them, because technically they meander and they're slow, but the experience feels luxurious, and I can't get enough. I can’t even put into words how much I adore these characters and the journeys they go on.
The Golden Fool is the most character driven of the books so far. It has the most shocking revelations, the most payoff, and the most heart. I felt like this book offered some much needed respite for Fitz after all he's been through. It isn't always plane sailing for him, but for once, his experience was not utterly harrowing. I'll take that as a win - and brace myself for the onslaught he is due in the next book.
I'm officially over halfway through the Realm of the Elderlings, and I'm equal parts scared and excited to see where things will go.

Watching Fitz’s relationships develop was the main draw of this book. I love how complex the dynamic between the Fitz and the Fool is and it was fascinating to see the catalyst, white prophet storyline take more prominence. The political intrigue in this book is messy but it builds a great foundation for the last book.
