Tensions grow as Fitz and the Fool work their way through complex relationships as they try to steer Vrity's son onto the throne, while managing growing tensions around the Piebalds. It's a great middle book.

I liked this one better than the first Tawny Man book, probably because it's well established into court intrigue. The whole story is within the walls of Buckkeep Town, but an awful lot happens.

Daddy and Papa are fighting :(
Loved this one even more than the previous book. The pacing and the reveals worked really well for me, and the interpersonal dynamics and court politics in between major plot points held my interest very well.
The Outislanders are a huge question mark, that Hanja lady especially. I can't wait to learn more about them and their Icefyre. It's been forever since we set off on our last proper expedition, really looking forward to it. The Fool better find a way to smuggle himself along.
Really enjoying how both the Wit and Skill storylines are unfolding and all the relationships we're building there. Nettle, Swift, Dutiful, Thick, Civil... Fitz really is fathering everyone now, not just Hap. Even Chade, in a way. I'm really interested to see how they all work together in concert.
And then we have the Bingtown part of the plot... I was really sad to not see more familiar faces, though it was nice to have Jek there to relay all the gossip, even if she made my dads fight. That storyline took a backseat here, but it's clear Tintaglias egotistical ass will tie us back into it the main plot, so I'm waiting eagerly to see how exactly.
All in all, lots to detangle and weave together. The ending was definitely a tad abrupt and unsatisfying which is most of that 0.5 I docked, but it really only made me more eager to dive into book three.
