*listened to the audiobook*

If you're looking for a book to transport you, to experience New York City in the 1940s, learning about the musical and theater scene, how the war impacted the city, and learning about yourself and how your actions have consequences to your friendships/relationships, this book is for you :)

I absolutely ADORED this book! It kept me so happy with all the glitz and glam and fictional history. I felt like it was written for me. I want more!

Angela got more than she bargained for asking this old lady a question.

But it was a fun read. 3.5 stars.

City of Girls is funny and vibrant. (One side character's typically morose responses made me laugh out loud.) I was impressed with the level of detail in Gilbert's descriptions of people, places, fashion, and dialogue. I didn't know to expect quite so much sex in the book, but if you're not bothered by that, I would recommend it to anyone. I'm looking forward to discussing this one in book club.
