The beginning was a bit slow but when it picks up, it  picks up! This book was such a pleasure to read. I love the historical accuracy of the events that occurred in this book and I love that the story behind the apothecary. Looks truly can be deceiving and the truth was bittersweet.

The book is interesting, but the characters of Caroline and her husband are kind of annoying. The historical part is great, but touches on some magic that doesn't really get elaborated on.

A little trite and on the nose, but mostly enjoyable. I felt like there was so much happening that nothing ever truly landed except the author really driving home the point about women not being recorded in history, and even that felt a little forced. Mostly accurate historic research experience, and the premise was super interesting. Also, the little feminine satisfaction that there was not one redeemable male character in this book…

I loved this book! It was an awesome blend of historical fiction mixed with a modern day timeline. I loved how the two timelines paralleled each other, and I love the sense of mystery throughout the book, even at the end with a few questions left unanswered. I really enjoyed Caroline’s character development, though I wish the author would have flushed out the process a little bit more because it was such a big change for Caroline but took place over just a couple days. I am so excited to read more from this author!

The dumbest characters I've ever seen, one-dimentional and childish.
Caroline throws her chance for success in her career in the river because she wants Eliza to be her little secret for reasons I guess. And the way she was so worried about James being sick threw me off considering the theme of the book, I just dont feel like she was angry enough about the affair and the years she wasted with him
