This was… different. I think I’m still processing what the fuck was that.
Sister, Maiden, Monster definitely delivered on the cosmic/ body horror. However, the ending was unsatisfactory and the character development rushed.
I'm just glad it's over. What a nightmare that was. A fairly well written nightmare though. The way it ends makes me think there may be another and I am gladly going to sit that out

Harts to follow doesn’t really seem to flow like it should. Plot is hard to understand. Ending makes no sense.

I’m conflicted. I’m not sure if I liked this or not, although I stayed up till 2am to finish it so it was engrossing enough.
I thought the three parts were more like standalone stories at first but they did come together well enough.
I don’t like that the only character who is identified specifically as Black (I think she’s the only character who is specified to be Black) is killed off for no real reason. She wasn’t the only medical character, Savannah could have found any number of doctors (which she apparently did “off screen” as it was) but she has to kill Nurse Tesfaye and then have some weird conversation with her ghost to justify it. Really doesn’t sit right.
Another thing I didn’t like was, not only that there was at least two references to Dahmer, but a reference by name of one of his victims (a child at that) and the vile things that happened to him. It was totally unnecessary and disrespectful given that he still has relatives alive now.
I liked the writing well enough other than those few gripes and the plot was interesting but it felt a bit flat by the end. So much happened in a rush at the end with not much explained.

What the fuck did I just read.
I kinda wanna keep it at that, but I'll elaborate. Let's say that this book did *not* go the way I expected it to. It's.. daring. It made me realize that contemporary universes suddenly going all batshit up in here isn't my favoured setting.
To me, the book felt a bit unbalanced, though I struggle to explain why. The pacing seems a bit off, and the weight of each character's section is also a bit odd to me. The first part takes a while, is pretty detailed, seems relatively "realistic".. and then it just starts rushing(ish) and gets bizarre. Bizarre is not bad, but it definitely contributed to the balance issue for me.
I liked the writing style most of the time. Didn't much care for having one person's accent written out and none of the others. And some parts were so detailed, and then others were subjected to the whole "let's not tell the reader wtf is going on and let's never give them any real answers either". It was usually those parts that felt inconsequential despite there being such an emphasis on them when it was happening.
Is it a book I'd recommend? I.. don't think so. I'd love for it to have been a bit more "normal" but honestly I appreciate the author taking the plunge and do something completely unique and out there. It didn't quite hit the spot for me, although it also didn't fully miss it. It's quite gorey and gross at times, which is also why I'd be hesitant to recommend it, though it didn't bother me.
Dunno. Not bad. Might be good for people that like some social commentary with their body horror?
