What a bittersweet conclusion to this epic series, I loved where Iris and Roman ended up but at what cost for everyone involved, especially Forest and Sarah šŸ˜

I literally read this 2 weeks ago and cannot remember what happened. I disliked this one even more than divine rivals, which made me like book 1 even less because we didnā€™t get a satisfying conclusion. I was on my knees begging for some kind of plot twist like enva is actually the evil one and dacre is the misunderstood villain, but no. We barely get any romance in this one bc of Romanā€™s amnesia and the fact that theyā€™re separated for 90% of the book. Idk what the point of getting them married was.

We did finally get some answers to the godsā€™ backstory and a little bit of magic system explanation but not much. I wish I wouldā€™ve DNFed but I wanted to give it a fair shot. Iā€™m glad I rented this from my library so I didnā€™t waste money on this series. Unfortunately the audiobook was bad again, but only bc the writing is so boring, it seems like the narrators are just reading instead of performing. I really disliked the ending and how all the action played out. I stand by what I said about this series being better as historical fiction instead of fantasy, bc thereā€™s barely any fantasy in if you take the gods out. Overall, I did not like the series and it was a struggle to get through, and obviously wonā€™t be rereading.

I wanted to love this book more, but the middle dragged on. Yet Rebecca wrote characters so lovely I had to finish to see their conclusion. Stepping back, the plot was great, there was just something missing compared to the first book. Iā€™m still glad I read this sequel, and Iris will always hold my heart ā¤ļø

This book took me a while to finish because I was truly nervous to start it because the story could go so many ways. I wasnā€™t sure what was to happen but Iā€™m glad Iris and Roman ended up together in the end. Though it left me wondering about certain aspects of the story.

REBECCA ROSS STRIKES AGAIN!! I am sobbing as I write this review. Iris and Roman, married but separated by Darce have to once again find each other through their words. Roman has his memories removed and Iris is back in Oath searching for a way to fix what's been broken. This book is sooo much better than Divine Rivals. I'm not sure if its the pre established relationships, the more evolved climax, or the constant stream of activity but Ruthless Vows took my breath away. Between the gut wrenching end, the beautiful relationship between Iris and Roman, and the satisfying conclusion of the duology this is everything I wanted it to be and more.
