Pairs well as an audiobook while I read One of Us is Next in print.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I had the hardest time connecting with this book.

I liked Rosalie and her story well enough. I truly hated how she used Carter though. I know she was just doing what she thought she had to do to stay safe, but still. Carter is a cheater and deserved it, but it still didn't feel quite right.

I disliked Amanda a lot and didn't have a ton of sympathy for her. Her parts were boring and felt unnecessary.

I also really disliked all the thriller-y drama. It just felt out of place, which was odd seeing as it's the main plot of the book.

I think I would have liked this a lot more if it wasn't a thriller, if Amanda hadn't been a main character, and it focused more on Rosalie and her faith/situation .

I wanted this to be so much more! I started this book and I thought West Virginia, in literature, my home! I also was so excited for lesbians. The story ended up being quite bland. The twist at the end wasn't twisty enough. The lesbian character is cute and her super culty religious family adds dynamic to the story, but the other main character is dull. After the first few chapters this becomes a bit more of a slow-burn who-done-it.

I enjoyed this book. It was gripping and entertaining but it really fell flat towards the end for me.
I kind of figured out who Private would be... and let me tell you. They have zero motive really. It was just so unrealistic. I know there are some real psychopaths out there but I don't think anyone would truly do what Private did for the reasons they did and that just really let me and the book down overall..

I still want to check out the author's previous work and i will definitely keep up with their further releases as I feel that the more they write these types of stories the better they're going to get and as I said, I did enjoy the book. Three stars may be harsh and I probably could bump it up to a four but for now this is the rating I'm going with.
