This was such a cute story about a girl that thinks Dim Sum Palace will be a real palace with an empress so she dreams about it. She ends up turning into a dumpling and the empress almost eats her! Turns out it's just a regular restaurant in real life.

My thanks goes to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books for and ARC. All opinions are my own, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Genre: Food Fantasy (Is that a genre?), Humor, Food
Age: Picture book (ages 4-8)

DIM SUM PALACE is an engaging story of a child who is excited to go to a restaurant with her family, but her imagination takes over.

The illustrations are charming and expressive. I can feel how hungry the child is! I love how things didn't go as expected.

This picture book will appeal to the young crowd. It's quite funny.

I recommend this book!

Happy (eating) reading!

This was the sweetest little story about a girl who wants dim sum so bad she dreams about becoming a dumpling! The illustrations in this are STUNNING!! So detailed, so expressive; I spent a while just admiring the pictures after I finished the story. This made me laugh out loud, it’s so sweet, so funny, so relatable :”) And the endpaper art is so cool I love that all the different foods are labelled.

This genuinely brought me so much joy, it’s perfect :’)

A wonderful homage to Sendak's In the Night Kitchen

Liddy is having a hard time sleeping because tomorrow, her family is going to her favorite place, Dim Sum! Suddenly a door opens and Liddy goes to the place of her dreams, a Dim Sum Palace. She is in wonder at the magical place until she falls into the dumpling filling for the Empress! As a callback to Sendak's The Night Kitchen, the illustrations are whimsical and yet drool-worthy. This sweet (and savory) book about a child's love is great for any foodies, big or small.
