i liked this book but it wasn't great. tash's detective work was a little overblown, and the way her personal story (particularly her family's finances) kept creeping in was wayyy too drawn out. this book could have been shorter i think. i really liked the author's writing style and the "friend group" tash incorporates herself into... so smart and twisty. but i felt there were some details that were just too crazy/complicated.

Fab thriller! On par with a good Lisa Jewell novel
A fun, fast-paced thriller that had fleshed out characters and plausible twists and turns. While I don’t reread thrillers, these are exactly my favorite delicious treat- throw in some “why is that child behaving alarmingly?”, and it’s an even better mix. The author’s knowledge of investigative reporting was apparent, I’d be tickled to read her other book.

Well dang. That was one twisted thriller. It takes a lot to second guess myself while reading and this one constantly had me changing my assumptions on who was the bad guy. Definitely a great fall/winter read if you are looking for a good murder mystery thriller.
I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because it was pretty hard for me to keep all of the characters straight in my mind. I kept getting Claire and Christina mixed up and it took me a bit to get Sal and Sophie straightened out, I think partly because of their similarities.
