This is a paranormal book with a twist that I didn't expect. The author held my attention from the first page. The character development was steady. I found myself deeply invested in Sarah's character and very interested to find out her background and how she might fit into this universe she was unaware of. The book is definitely set up to lead us on an adventure. The stage is set for the series to continue and further explain the characters and their histories. I look forward to reading more and learning more about this paranormal universe.

REVIEW:
I’ve been stuck in the contemporary romance genre for so long, that I didn’t know how much I missed a good Urban Fantasy. Ghouls Kisses was a great quick read that introduced a unique world of vampires, trolls, ghouls and many more paranormal beings. I’ve never really picture ghouls as being sexy, but Stoneback makes them beautiful and powerful, especially the lead male Eric, who readers will love this Alpha male.
A Ghouls Kiss follows Sarah Clemons who after one terrible date ended with her waking up in a random mansion, she is sucked into a world she never thought existed. Sarah is held “captive” in the mansion of the Ghoul King, Eric, who is fascinated by her because she holds the key, literally, to unlocking a book that can defeat evil. Together they go on a action packed journey to find this missing book as well as discover more about each other and their growing affections.
This was a great first introduction, it did take me a while to warm up to Sarah, but once the story really picked up on the action she was great. The majority of the story really focused on the romance, it built on Sarah trying to come to terms with this new world and the fact she and Eric had some off the charts chemistry. Eric is an interesting Alpha male, he’s a determined leader and becomes pretty protective of Sarah right off the bat. I really enjoyed every scene they had together, the banter, the romance, and the suspenseful moments.
Overall I always enjoy a quick read, this was a nice refreshing new story, my fist into the world where Ghouls were this powerful. I do wish we had a bit more world building as I did get confused at some points, because something wasn’t as detailed when it was explained. Some of the dialogue did feel a bit forced and could use a bit of freshening up. But I can already see how the plot and twist that happen are going towards something really magical. I would recommend this to paranormal lovers who would like to see a change of paranormal lead, from the overfilled pool of werewolves and vampires, give the Ghouls a try.
Thanks again to the very sweet author for giving me the chance to read her work and write my review.

I'm not a romance books lover so if it was not for 'Shut Up & Read' book club I'm sure I would never have read this book for my own.
The book is written from two points of view, Sarah and Eric, the main characters, and in present simple, which made it harder than usual because I've fell into the habit of reading in past participle, but even so I got used to it rapidly.
The characters reminded me of a soap opera. They're not deep, they are simple and don't evolve, their ideas and opinions go with the flow of the story, because they never represent a rupture in the story, what would give it a boost.
Apart from this, there's a quote in Chapter five that made me laugh, because I still don't know if it's sarcasm or not. Sarah says: "I tried to get into romance novels, but I couldn't deal with reading about guys being overly possessive and controlling. I don't understand how women think that's attractive." And then, Sarah falls for a man that first of all makes her stay in his home to find a book Sarah doesn't know anything about, also does what he wants, answer her or not whenever he wants and uses her. What's the point of that quote?
I don't like (or I don't understand) how Sarah reacts to everything, like nothing abnormal is happening. Especially when she has to take off a bullet from a ghoul's heart. If I was her I'd act like: "What the heck is happening here? Why has he been shot? And by who? And how the hell is he still alive?". I think I would suffer from syncope. But Sarah doesn't, she just helps him and make no questions. That's what I can't get into my head, I would mind-blow.
Also there's a scene where the two main characters go to a travel to find a map so it would let them find the Book, and the only thing Sarah is thinking about is what will happen between her and Eric. She doesn't know what's going to happen on the journey, but she does not suffer for her physical integrity.
The whole book and the story are so fast that I couldn't process all. I've missed a strong plot, the basic premise is interesting but not as exploited as it could be; it has more potential than it shows up. Plus the action starts in Chapter eleven, which makes the first ten chapters a little bit boring because it's all about Eric and Sarah's relationship and how they fall in love with each other. Anyway there're some parts that made me laugh, because of its basic humour.
In a nutshell, I know it’s the first book in a series but however, I need more action not so much passion.
