Wow wow wow, the ending! Makes me want to buy the second book immediately!

I was going blind in to this book. Didn't really know what to expect, except for some nature/plant magic. It was a surprise for me to see it was a modern fantasy story. Took a little getting used to for me. But it gave a whole new fantasy vibe for me, and eventually I liked it.

I gave it 4 stars, not 5, because some things where a little predictable for me. In the middle of the story I was also questioning a little bit where this story was going. But the ending made the book so much better! And I almost cried, I gasped for air the lady 30 pages.

Really love the queer rep. And the way Bayron describes how the plants and flowers react to Briseis is so lovely to read!

Very character driven with little plot. Great concept but not executed well. Bad writing - wish it was written by someone else (I don't want to be rude it's just my opinion)

This was so bad…

First of all I loved the magic system and the plot seemed good but nothing happened till literally around 260 pages. The author packed everything in the last 70 pages and just it just fell flat. She could’ve used all that and stretch the investigation more to create a interesting and gripping atmosphere.

Also the Love interest was just so dumb it just didn’t felt right (for one reason I can’t mention because spoilers)it was that kind of insta-Love that just didn’t work out. They had literally nothing in common, it just seemed like they loved each other cause Marie was „so beautiful“.
Don’t recommend reading it if you don’t like slow burned stories

“I was not tryna have my life ruined by the real-life Annabelle, so I told myself we’d walk away if there was any mention of dolls.”

“‘What key are y’all singin’ in?’ I asked. ‘I don’t think any of those notes exist in real life.’
‘It’s in B-quiet,’ Mo said, turning to Mom.”

So many details I’d like to highlight, but it’s easier to just tell you to read it. Light, funny and sweet, but also so interesting. All the poison makes it fun! I got out of my slump because of this one.

Go. Go read it. Right now!

I loved this book i couldn't keep my mind away from it and didn't want to stop reading it.

At first i thought this would be just sweet friends discovering the secret history of the family. BUT THE LAST TWO OR THREE CHAPTERS? THE BETRAYAL? I WASN'T READY FOR THIS. EVERYTHING SEEM LIKE A NEW STORY JUST WHEN ALL THE LIES STARTED TO COME OUT TO THE DAYLIGHT.

And of course i love how it was mixed with greek mythology as it's my favourite thing.

5/5 stars and now i won't be able to sleep until i read the second book. Love it.

Maybe I’m in a bit of a slump, but I was having a hard time getting into this book already, and then the instant poison ivy reaction happened…I know it’s petty, but that is not how poison ivy/oak/sumac works and it was so distracting that I just could not get past it.
