I have never laughed so much in public while reading a book. Loved it. Her zines are all worth reading as well.

I really enjoyed this collection of short stories. Cassie Sneider grew up on Long Island, in and around Lake Ronkonkoma like me, around the same time that I did. If you didn't grow up there, or in the 80s/90s, you might not understand some of the stories, but some of them are funny and touching and worth reading even if you're not from the area.

As an aside, this is the book that I always keep with me when I travel, since I can't read my kindle during takeoff and landing, and I can pick this one up and start/stop anywhere and always enjoy it.

"You know her life was saved by rock and roll" is the next line from the Lou Reed song that is the title of this book which could not be more fitting.

I picked this book up on a whim. I had never heard of it before and I have no idea who Cassie Sneider is, but I want to be her best friend. A great compilation of hilarious stories - a la Sloane Crosby - but with more punk rock, drugs, and hilarity.

A book of rather confessional short stories by a woman almost exactly my age.

While I didn't grow up on Long Island, a lot of her awkwardness was painfully familiar. Really a joy to read, and many of the stories were laugh out loud hilarious.

Cassie J. Sneider reminds me of the cool weird girls in high school and college that I always wanted to be friends with, but who also terrified me to death.
