I really admire Quinta and this memoir had nuggets that I also related to.

A great memoir/essay collection. Fun and readable, like listening to a friend (a cliche thing to say, but I really mean it), while also honest and full of insightful and funny quotes I want to copy and tape up on my wall. As someone around the same age, it’s nice to hear a story of someone who also grew up on the internet (and with the same memes), and who used that to propel them forward toward their goals. The book only runs through 2020, before Abbott Elementary started in 2021, and I hope to see a “part 2” of this book in a few decades, building on everything she’s achieved since then.

Overall just a really enjoyable read.

I find Quinta Brunson a joy to watch as a comedian and thoroughly enjoyed this memoir -both for the specifics of her Philly upbringing and her development as a sketch and internet comedian (as well as her shoutout to Second City improv classes).

I laughed out loud quite a few times while reading. Picked this one up because I love Abbott Elementary and Quinta Brunson did not disappoint!

Very funny and insightful. Audible has an epilogue about Abbott elementary.

This book felt like having a conversation with a friend. I love the way she shared her story with such authenticity and natural humor. I think most of us can recall the viral video clips that made her face familiar, but getting greater insight into her background and journey was inspiring.
