As a fan of rest of Mark Rosenfelder’s work, I knew I wasn’t going to dislike Babblers. Still, before I read it, I had a faint, lingering suspicion that there would be something in the book that would rub me the wrong way. Thankfully, there was nothing of the sort; Babblers is just a wonderfully executed, well-developed, and deeply engaging story about a man named Beretos and his mission to the Taucrete Pass. I also read the Book of Cuzei along with Babblers, as well as almost every other supplemental material one can find on the Almeaverse, so naturally I really enjoyed this book. As others have mentioned, this is really geared towards fans of his work as a whole, so if you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend it.
Nevertheless, the novel works on its own as a competent and compelling story that kept me engaged till the end. Thanks Mark!
