Aaah, they both proposed. What will Stephanie do now?
This is the Stephanie Plum I love. Feels authentic. Twenty nine was totally off.
Stephanie and Lula always entertain. A quick, fun read.
Originally, I enjoyed this series. There were some books that were hit or miss, but I enjoyed the silliness of the books. However, the back and forth between Morelli and Ranger, which just got to be too tedious and was drug out too long, so I quit the series at book 17. The newest book became available at my library, so I checked it out to see where the characters were. The same place. She still has not chosen between Ranger and Morelli. And while it seems she has to make a choice at the next book, I figure they will drag it out for another decade, so I think it's better to put this series down again. I did not enjoy this book like I did the ones in the past, and I remembered why I quit reading this series.
A little repetitive but I always enjoy Stephanie Plum
Have been listening to Stephanie Plum novels for 23 years now. I remember that I listened to my first Plum novel in March 2000. It was High Five. I had just bought the house in Dillsburg and was painting the upstairs bedrooms. I almost fell off of my ladder, I was laughing so much. I think was painting was ok, but it caused a love of her books and other funny mysteries. Over recent years, I admit things have felt a bit stale, but still comfortable. This is a good example of one of her stories, funny and comfortable. As usual, I learned a new term from Lula, "Pleasure Facilitator" instead of Ho. I just can't get that out of my head even after I am finished with the book.
I always look forward to the next installment of the Plum series, and still hold out hope for another movie. Lots of giggles, the expected explosions, car swap, and the longest "will the won't they just have a reverse harem already" in the history of literature. Would love more spice, and honestly I was a little disappointed how easily Steph got out of this one! Not a single kidnapping.
I'm in between library holds and wanted something I could knock out quickly - enter Dirty Thirty. With the Stephanie Plum novels, you know what you're getting into with each book (Stephanie and Lula chasing wacky FTAs, Stephanie loses a car, she's torn between Ranger and Morelli, etc.) It's pretty formulaic at this point, but still entertaining. I liked it, but it wasn't great. I'm always happy to turn to a Stephanie Plum book for something light and quick.
