Stayed up late and finished this ~3 AM, whoops. The Lady Trent books have been on my to-read list for a while, and when I found one on remainder at the Book Bin, score! Marie Brennan blends the prose of a Victorian memoir (though definitely more readable) with similar-but-not-quite-Earth setting in which dragons exist but aren't very well understood due to rapid decomposition. A very quick read, absolutely gorgeous illustrations... am looking forward to the rest.

I did not like FMC and because of that I will not be continuing this series.

Very, very good! I really enjoyed the world-building and Isabella as a narrator and character. I think the prose was excellent and the plot thrilling.
