In this collection, Lakambini Sitoy creates luminous and strong and suffering women going through the pains of the bodies that they possess, and the inevitable wounds that come with it. The concept of the lonely urban life flirting with the thrill of the erotic gives these tired trope of Sad Girls a sharper edge. Teeth. Capacity to hurt and to bear. This book awakened in me the urgent need to write clear and hard about what hurts, and about why ugly, uncomfortable, and cruel women need representation, too.
