I don't know what it says that I totally forgot that I had read this book back in 2013. (Or at least I rated it then!) I found it good, not great, both times I read it. :-) My biggest problem with the book is that the bad guy doesn't stay defeated... sigh... I enjoyed it more the third time I listened to it, this time with my kid as our car book. Good audio book for listening in the car!

I've read this book before and loved it then. This is my first time going through the audiobook book, and I still love it. This whole series is just so charming and so heartwarming. I decided to give the books to my nephews and niece because I want them to have a chance to fall in love with this series as I did. While the first book of the series was more enjoyable, this book still holds up and holds a special place in my heart. I'm so happy I can revisit the series after all this time, and can't wait to talk to my nephew about Septimus Heap and his adventures.

I really liked this book. I hate how Marcia is being followed by a Shadow. I hate Simon and the bitterness he has. I hate how he kidnapps Jenna and takes her away and is so mean to her. I love how she figures out how toescape and how she outsmarts him and finds Wolf boy and Septimus. I love how Wolf boy ends up being Septimus's old friend from the army. I love how they figure out how to get rid of Marcia's shadow and howthey figure out how to get Dom Daniel out of the way. I love how Aunt Zelda is taking care of the apprentience and how kinds she is to him. I really liked this book. 5 stars.
