Such a horrible book... did not get it at all. Seemed so pointless. Definitely would never have picked this up on my own - Can't believe I had to read this for school.

I personally had a hard time focusing at times as there transitions between sections of the book were far from seemless.

King's writing is just so damned good. This isn't as mind-blowing as [b:Green Grass Running Water|46277|Green Grass, Running Water|Thomas King|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1170319801s/46277.jpg|45411]; nothing much by way of a plot, and not as hard an emotional punch, but it's funny and has excellent flow.

There’s not much of a plot in this book but it’s a quick read. Nothing too heavy although it’s also not very lighthearted. Everything about this book feels gloomy and monotone but also nostalgic and content. Overall a pretty average book.

I don’t know why I kept reading this book. Maybe at 50 pages I felt like I’d read too much, and it is a pretty quick read, so I just thought I’d stick it through? Can’t say as I enjoyed it all that much. It wasn’t terribly well-written, but Harlen made me chuckle once every 80 pages or so.

I loved all of the stories that weaved through this book, and reading a novel set in my home province of Alberta made me feel warm.
