Not entirely sure about this one. Booster Gold is not my favorite character. I get bringing him in for laughs, but still... The other stories are what saved this one for me. We went full bore weird west with those. And the 1880s version of Stormwatch was interesting.

This collects All Star Western #17-21. Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti handle the writing. Moritat and Staz Johnson take up the art reins.

Okay, The four issues in this that actually had Jonah Hex in them were great, even if they had more connection to the DC Universe than I would like featuring Vandal Savage, Booster Gold, and Batwing. The breezed through the two issues involving Dr. Thirteen and the 19th century version of Stormwatch.

The Hex issues were great but Dr. Thirteen and Stormwatch are a big departure from what made the previous Jonah Hex run great in the first place. I'm guessing all the guest stars and whatnot are an atttempt to boost sales but I doubt Booster Gold and the others moved the needle very much and may have driven off fans of the previous series to boot. Three stars but Hex shouldered the load.

First half is Jonah Hex vs. Vandal Savage. Second half is Jonah Hex teamed up with Booster Gold, who's the sheriff of a town. What better pitch is there?
