I learned a lot but found the ending unsatisfying.

Great piece of feminist semi-autobiographical work that has clearly been a huge influence in Korean thought towards women, work and motherhood

The themes in this book are very relatable for me (an Asian woman and mother born in 1982), but I think Jiyoung’s experiences will resonate with most women. Jiyoung’s husband is also a compelling character who demonstrates that even ‘the good ones’ lack awareness and understanding of how much is sacrificed by women for motherhood.

The last chapter was infuriating but incredibly apt. A little confusing to follow at times but generally very relatable even for someone younger and raised in a different country, it is unfortunately an experience any afab person can relate to.
