Doesn’t really add anything to the Shadow and Bone series

"I remember only how I fell into books, never to rise from their pages, how I was never truly awake until I began to dream of other worlds."

After 3 weeks I have finished this very short book

this was kinda boring tbh. i only cared about the stories of familiar characters like ilya, alina, lizabeta, and the darkling. that’s it. that’s literally all i remember.

This was a fun read as someone who enjoys the Grishaverse and wanted more background on the world building. It’s interesting to read about different saints, both those you have seen/learned about in the novels as well as others that are new to the reader. Not necessary by any means, but a beautiful collection of short stories for the Grishaverse fan.

The illustrations in the book were really gorgeous and I don't think I would have picked it up if it wasn't included.  The stories are mostly the same, either someone performs a miracle and gets executed by the villagers or stuck in a shitty situation and prayed to the saints. Basically a bunch of short fairytale stories, really reminds me of the ones i use to read when i was younger.

This was an absolutely wonderful addition to the Grishaverse! I love that books like this and The Language of Thorns exist as books the characters in-universe might read or happen upon while also functioning as excellent additions to the universe they belong to.

There isn't much more to say than that this was a fantastic time, spending evenings dipping my toes back into this hauntingly lovely world that Leigh Bardugo has so carefully put together. The illustrations were fantastic and the surprise audiobook starring Lauren Fortgang (who has narrated on every Grisha book so far in some capacity, having done all of The Grisha Trilogy, Inej's chapters in Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom, Zoya's chapters in King of Scars, and The Language of Thorns) and a new challenger who approaches, Ben Barnes, who is delightfully set to play The Darkling in the Shadow and Bone Netflix series, which I am cautiously optimistic about.

I'm probably going to reread all things Grisha early in 2021 to get ready for Rule of Wolves so this got me even more stoked to get to do that again. Hopefully the Netflix series will come out after Rule of Wolves so I have a chance to properly refresh my memory, too! Fingers crossed!

This might be the most beautiful book I own. It has a gorgeous binding and amazing illustrations. The stories are so good; I simply love the concept. A perfect addition to the Grishaverse.
