***Minor Spoilers***
(There aren't really any major plot points to spoil anyway.)

Okay so this is a slightly complicated review for me as I did love the idea of the book and I was a sorta fan of the characters, however, I have some major critiques, especially on the aspect of Scotland and how it was portrayed in this book.

< I found the book pretty boring as it was basically a steady climb the entier time, keeping to the path it set out on. You knew what was going to happen, there were no plot twists. It almost doesn't feel like a story that needed to be told and I know thats harsh but it did not capture my imagination in any way.

Obvioulsy Scotland does not have (and has not had for a few centuries) a monarchy, but I do understand the apeal of making the monarchy Scottish instead of English.
However, what annoys me are the smaller details the author messed up. For instance St Leonards is in St Andrews rather than outside it and Hollyrood is the govornment not the castle (the castle is simpley called Edinbrugh Castle).
As well as this, no one in Scotland says 'tosh', and the accents are not the same as in England (as in it's unlikley you'll find someone born in Scotland speaking Queens English as insinuated in the book).
Also, I find it unlikley that Millie never had to suffer threw a class of 'social dancing' (Scottish Country Dancing in practice for Ceilidhs). If so she is now the envy of every Scottish student currently still in school.

Personally, I found the characters loveable enough but nothing made me feel conected to either of them and I wasn't really that invested in the relationship between the MC's, or any characters for that matter. The ending was super rushed and didn't really bring any satisfiying conclusion.

To conclude this rather short essay, I will say that this book is a 2.5 star because I'm a sucker for saphic relationships but that's about all it had going for it.>

Sincerely - a mostly Scottish lesbian.

I really liked this book, it only took me a couple of hours to read through it. Bought it on kindle as a couldn't sleep, would recommend to anyone looking for a lighthearted young adult romance novel that isnt to long or doesn't have any major disasters in it.
