Really, Stephen King? Reeeeeeallllllly? You wrote YOURSELF into the book? It almost made me throw the book across the room and leave it there. I hope you can find redemption in book 7, because right now I wish I'd stopped at 5.
Okay, I'll admit that this book is weird, but it is still fun. And ultimately, I didn't find it that weird. The weirdest was definitely the chapter with Roland, Eddie and Stephen King himself as a fictional character, but once you get over that, it's fine.
The stuff with Suzannah was actually really cool, I've always found her a fascinating character and to see her have to handle all this solo (and internally at that) was fun and interesting. Her personality really shone in this book, especially in contrast with that of both Mia and Detta. It made for some funny dialogue.
I loved how the others were all yoinked through the doors and just dumped in their respective places. The shootout with Roland and Eddie was great and was a clear callback to book 2. This is were King writes best in my opinion. I also loved how fraught Jake and Callahan's entrance into NY was, with Jake and the car. King doesn't explicitly tell you that Jake was having a flash back to what happened/could have happened to him, but that was clearly why he reacted to violently. Obviously it is never okay to draw a gun on someone like this, but you could see where Jake was coming from, all the way back from book 1.
This is very much a build up to book 7 though, with this book once again ending on multiple cliffhangers. Don't love that.

Another gripping story that I couldn't put down. The Tower approaches ever closer. I rate this book very well, I raced through it, and even the aspects of Susannah's dual personality weren't as unenjoyable as usual to me. I can understand people not enjoying the certain added character in this, but I really did.
