Aww I liked this one. 4.2/5. I liked it a little more than the first book! Honestly my notes are the same from the first book, of the author trying to do too many micro tropes that aren’t really needed. And tbh the whole drunkenly marriage just wasn’t needed to develop this story. It was kind of irrelevant since they were already hooking up and having the reason to stay together be the migraines healthcare was just silly. Some moments I wish Liam was slightly more grumpy, and I wish there were some flashbacks to them meeting since they already had some form of relationship from the last book. However I do love Liam’s growth and how sappy he got. Once again I did enjoy this book, I just think the author in general needs to be more consistent in creating depth and reasoning for each trope. Excited for Hudson’s book!
Book 1 foreshadow:
Liam getting piper food while she’s drunk: “Liam’s lips quirk, the hint of a smile on his face, and he holds out his hand. “I know somewhere good.”
“I didn’t know you and Liam talked.”
“We don’t,” she says, but her cheeks turn red. She busies herself with tucking a piece of hair behind her ear and fixing the hem of her skirt. “It was mentioned in passing.”
Liam and Piper playing a game: “ Liam folds his big hands over her smaller ones on the controller. ”
Oh so they already fucking before their book: “You can practically see my nuts.”
She looks him up and down. “At least it’s a nice dick.”
Liam, the man who could strangle someone with a flick of his wrist, fucking blushes. “Thanks,” he mumbles, and I’ve never heard him sound so sincere.”
“Piper is crying so much, Liam has to drag her across the ice with his stick.”
OKAY ACTUAL BOOK:
“Do you do this a lot?” Liam interjects.
“Do what?” I ask.
“Pretend like your shit isn’t as important as other people’s shit.”
“Lexi. Pipsqueak. See you tomorrow.”
He disappears through the door to the locker room, and Lexi looks at me.
“I’ve never heard that man say anything borderline friendly before. And a nickname?”
He put his ear against the door to eavesdrop on their conversation and now wants to get Piper’s boss fired for being pervy
