Still processing this book as a whole (very much looking forward to reading other people's thoughts) and didn't necessarily love EVERY plot point; but bottom line for Goodreads, had a marvelous time reading.

I know most of you read this book last year! I'm very late to the party but you know what they say: better late than never! The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin was A Best Book of the Year by The Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly and others, An Instant New York Times Bestseller, and a @belletrist book club pick!

If you knew the date of your death, how would you live your life? That’s exactly what this novel explores. It’s 1969, in New York City, and a mystical woman is claiming to tell when people will die. The Gold children meet her and they hear their fortunes. The Immortalists span across several decades and cities showing how this prophecy changed their lives forever.

If you’re looking for a novel that you will read compulsively, then this is it! I had been putting it off because of its size but I ended up reading it pretty quickly! It’s so entertaining and addictive. I found the central idea really interesting because it is a question I asked myself in the past: what would I do if I knew when I was going to die? It’s a question that embraces notions of fate and free will that I find very interesting. Besides the premise, I could feel really attached to all the characters. It’s not a mind blowing novel but I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a engaging read!
