Not quite dark enough to fulfil the potential of the first chapters but a decent enough story. I wanted to be left slightly haunted but was disappointed.

it's fine. Reads more like an experiment as opposed to a over-arching, worthwhile story. This results in nice, small moments amid a real slog.

Really enjoyed the premise and the elements of magical realism and especially the way we got to dive into each of the siblings' inner worlds. I was disturbed by a few parts of the storyline - anything to do with parent / child was tough to read but that could just be my own sensitivity as a new parent.
Graphic: Suicide
Moderate: Animal death, Death of parent

At first, it was little rushed and hasty with Simon’s pov but it become gradually easier to relax and enjoy the story. Death is not the answer but rather of mark of your growth. Every sibling had their mark of growth and lived to the fullest.
3.5 stars.
Great concept for a book ~ if you knew what day you were going to die, what would you do with your life? Do we have agency or is everything we do decided long before we ever make a choice?
Very readable writing and style, the last 100 pages just flew by.
-1.5 stars because I felt like the structure of the book didn’t allow me to get to know all of the main characters the same, and the build-up in the beginning was slow.

This was a fine audiobook, but not fantasy, more a complicated family drama.
