"Je suis métisse" is a graphic novel of fiction, although you can feel that there is an autobiographical part.
it was a very tough, strong and moving story. i found that the drawings represented well this tragic and chaotic side, and i appreciated the pagination (rather unstructured) which freed itself from the standards. it reminded me of Marjane Satrapi's style with Persepolis.
unfortunately, i didn't really like the way the different characters were drawn: i had trouble understanding their emotions because of the faces that remained rather inexpressive, especially for the women...

thank you to netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Such a unique coming of age story, and the illustrations are beautiful.
