It's been awhile since I read an Agatha Christie and I forgot how fun they can be; you're constantly trying to solve the puzzle and Christie outwits you at every turn. The Nile setting is pretty irrelevant to this one; mainly the important thing is that it's on a cruise ship with a limited cast of characters and no way in or out, but it could really be anywhere. Of course the more Poirot looks into it, the more he finds that nearly everyone on board had some kind of connection with the victim!

Racism warning: Early in the book there is more of a stab at local color and it's extremely racist. The book centers on a group of rich white European and American characters on a cruise, and the only Black Egyptians that they encounter are merchants and children trying to sell them things, and the book mocks their appearance and their broken English. (In other words, I'm adding a content warning for racism, rather than suggestion the book is about racism, which it definitely is not. The racism is 100% unconsidered and unapologetic.)

I loved this book! Poirot is my favorite character of Agatha Christie's, and he was great in this story. Christie is a master of mystery, and I was blown away by her ability to construct such an interesting and intricate story. I loved the way she wrapped up the mystery, I never would have guessed! I highly recommend the read.
