This was a nice wee easy read to get me out of a slump. The story is described as a ‘love story’ but honestly there wasn’t a lot of romantic scenes in it, I think it would be better described as a story about friendship.
It made me extremely homesick, even if the book just focused on all the bad parts of being from Belfast.

I just really love this book and series. I last read it more than five years ago, and I loved it then, and I still love it now. It's about a very serious and sad topic while also being lighthearted in many ways. Also I'd forgotten how short it was. It took me less than an hour.

It was a nice, quick read, as well as being informative. The chapters were engaging although I feel the ending could have been a bit more dramatic. I also don’t think the book is really a romance, maybe it was considered one when it was published back in 1970, but I’d say it’s more about friendship. Being from Ireland myself and having studied all about the Troubles for school, I think it’s a pretty accurate fiction novel. The characters are written well, as when I was fourteen I believe I did share similar opinions on things (though not on religious divide of course)

Loved this book. Read this in school and taught me all about the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
